Register Before October 31st to Receive the Discounted Rate!

Apply Online or on Paper: Register through our BOSL website right now and receive the discounted rate. You have the option to pay immediately through PayPal or send us a post-date cheque (Feb 1, 2014). All hard copy applications and cheques should be delivered to the hockey clubhouse located at 3521 Mainway Drive, Burlington. All post-dated cheques must be received by the BOSL no later than October 31st in order for you to receive the discount.

Just Show up and Receive Your Chance to Win!

It's Easy: Every member that shows up for our Annual General Meeting on Monday October 21st will receive a ticket for a draw to be completed at the end of the meeting. This year we are giving away a 40" High Definition TV. If you would like to increase your chances of winning you can purchase five additional tickets for $5. All money collected will be put towards our 2014 charity. Please note that you must be present when the ticket is drawn.

Join us for the BOSL Annual General Meeting (Agenda for the meeting is here)

The BOSL annual general meeting will be held at the BOHC hockey clubhouse (3521 Mainway Drive, Burlington, Ontario L7M 1A9) on Monday, October 21st, 2013 at 7:00pm. At that time we will be running our annual election for a board of directors. We will also be voting on proposed rule changes. Please make an effort to attend the meeting. It is the only time of year we get to make these significant changes to the league. We would like to hear your input.
 
Board of Directors Elections
We are currently expecting one opening this year. We encourage people to consider getting involved in the administration end of this league. It is less effort than you might think. It’s also a good opportunity to learn about how this league works.

Our current list of members running for 2014 Board of directors position is: Larry Gagnon, Dale Latendresse, John Andersen, Mike Ciccone, Brent Craigie, Jim Hindley, Scot Cameron and Brian Blume. We have room for one more board member.  The nomination procedure is below:

Any member of the Corporation wishing to become a candidate for election to the Board of Directors other than existing members of the Board of Directors shall express his intentions in a written declaration signed by him and two (2) members in good standing. This declaration must be presented to the Board of Directors at least twenty-one (21) days prior to the Annual General Meeting

So, if you are interested, let us know and the names of the two members supporting your nomination.
 
Rule Changes
All proposed rule changes must be in to the president no later than Friday September 20th 11:59pm.
Please submit them in writing EXACTLY as you wanted them proposed.
Please also indicate the two BOSL members that support your rule change proposal.
You MUST be at the meeting to support your proposal or it will not be considered.
 
 
By-Law Changes

Please note:
“Proposed amendments to the By-laws or Articles of Incorporation must be presented to the Secretary in writing, signed by ten (10) members of the Corporation in good standing at least thirty (30) days prior to the Annual General Meeting.
Such amendments must be circulated to all members at least two (2) weeks prior to the Annual General Meeting. In order for an amendment to be passed, it must receive the assent of at least fifty percent (50 %) of the membership present at the time the vote is taken. Amendments to the Constitution will be on a trial basis for a period of one (1) year and, if not altered at the next Annual General Meeting, will then become part of the Constitution.”
 
All proposed by-law submissions must be in to Mike Ciccone no later than September 24th, 2013 11:59pm.

Volunteers helped make our BOSL Slo-Pitch Tournament a success this weekend

Congratulations to Ron/Jeff and Nick/Rick and your teams on your well-deserved championships! Welcome to the Hall of Fame

In addition to congratulating our tournament winners, I would like to congratulate all of our members for the fantastic support you all provided during the Year End Tournament. The park setups and takedowns went smoothly and quickly and there was always someone asking to help or willing to help when asked. Everyone’s understanding and support during the delays on Saturday and the required game modifications really showed what kind of league we are and that “Fun and Fellowship” is what we are all about.

Avoid missing out and get your tickets now!!  Tickets are only available until the end of the year-end tournament.  No tickets will be available for sale at the door!!!

You can buy your tickets on-line or from Jason Gerrity at any of the remaining Tailored Living games.   They will also be available at the bunker during the tournament.   But that's it...after the tournament no more tickets...We have to give the hall our final numbers so sorry, if you miss out, you miss out.

BOSL July Social Update

Games 19 & 20 are officially behind us as are the big mid-season tournament wins of The Judge & Jury and L3M. It's officially summer and the sun has finally decided to show itself. Don't forget your sunscreen!! :)

Now that it's really starting to feel like summer, it's time to think about getting out to the BOSL Golf day which is just around the corner! Check out details for more info and ask around, last year was a great success and a lot of fun. Don't miss out - sign up now!

BOSL GOLF DAY DEADLINE

The 2013 BOSL Golf Day on Saturday August 17th is fast approaching!

A call for help from Habitat for Humanity

Hey BOSL players – as you know, we are trying to support our friends at Habitat for Humanity this summer. My contact there has asked us if we can help them with something that they need rather urgently and I think it would be very much appreciated if we are able to come through for them.... here is her request:

Is what we need.  I know you have a big league and I know we have discussed  the possibility of the team members donating their services to help out.  We are in dire need of an electrician AND someone who can help with putting in the grid for ceiling tiles, in a drop ceiling approx 3500 sq. ft.  Can you refer anyone to these tasks that we can call????

BOSL Tournament Volunteers Needed

2013 Mid-Season Tournament:

"We Need You!" -- Volunteers Needed for our BOSL Mid-Season Slo-Pitch Tournament

The Mid-Season Tournament is fast approaching, Here are some updates:

1. Date: Fri June 14 - Sun June 16 Location: Sherwood Park
2. Tournament PODs will be drawn by the captains at the June 10th captains meeting. (based upon standings up to that point)
3. Saturday Schedule – There is NOT a 1 hour break at noon.  Games will be 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, 1:30, 3:30 and 5:00 (plan your parties accordingly) 
4. Team Pictures – schedule for Saturday is set so check with your captains.
5. Massage tables – hoping to have for Saturday
6. Individual volunteers for the Friday afternoon set-up needed.

BOSL 2013 Social Update
The 33rd season of the BOSL is only about  5 short weeks away!  I hope everyone is warming up and has begun their spring training camps just like the Judge & Jury fellas below :)

BOSL 2013 Stag Night:
Please join us Tuesday April 30th at 7pm for an opportunity to meet your fellow team mates, pickup your uniforms and catch up with friends from previous seasons. Light munchies and bar service will be available.

Don't forget about the opportunity to purchase some new ball equipment
Corbetts Source for Sports will be on hand with a variety of equipment and apparel available for sale at excellent prices.

Have your own bat?
If you have a new bat or unregistered bat from previous years, you must have it approved and registered before using it. Bring your bat  and have it registered while there.   As a reminder Only S.P.O.A. approved bats (BPF of 1.20 or less) are allowed. These are ASA, not the USSSA standards.
