BOSL Hall of Fame – IN MEMORIAM

Mike Silva (2019)

August 11, 2019

Mike Silva (Chilli) was a former captain and player in BOSL! He passed away aug 11. For those who were not aware, Mike was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma at the age of 48. What started out as a pretty good outlook, needing only 3 rounds of chemo and 35 rounds of radiation quickly took a turn for the worse. The cancer spread to Mike’s bones and he was undergoing another 4 rounds of chemo with the hopes of maintaining the cancer and keeping it from spreading. His battle with cancer was long and difficult.

He registered to play this season but his physical limitations didn’t allow him to do so. We are asking that all Captains have their teams line up on their own baseline before games tonight and tomorrow to observe a moment of silence in Chilli's honour.

Mike had a very distinctive laugh and was loved by all in BOSL. His close friend Dave Geneau organized the BOSL family to attend a benefit to try and help out the family and raise his spirits. Thanks to all of you that managed to attend and/or donate. Mike leaves behind 4 children, 2 in their early 20’s: Kennedy and Braeden, an 8 year old son named Jackson and a 4 year old daughter named Addison and his beautiful wife Jenn. We miss you already Mike!

It is with a very heavy heart that we said goodbye to Mike last night. He was the best husband, dad, son, brother, brother in law and friend anyone could have asked for.

Visitation will be at McKersie Kocher funeral home in Milton on Wednesday August 14 from 2-4 and 7-9. A celebration of his life will take place Thursday August 15 at 2pm at McKersie Kocher funeral home with a reception to follow at Milton Bible Church (where his benefit was). Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us and supported us in anyway. In the words of Jackson and Addison “cancer sucks”
