Our tournaments are a testament to that, it wouldn't run so smoothly without all those that help out each year.

The biggest chore we found is the distribution and collection of the various canopies that we put around each diamond.  These canopies provide both shelter from any rain shower and shade if we have sunny weather. I'd appreciate all the help we can get to build, carry the shelters to and from the diamonds, and then dismantle them again. We need 8 volunteers for this each day during tournaments.

For the Friday setup:  6 - 8 individuals from around 2pm - 6pm, to perform various functions in getting all our many supplies from the storage locker to the park and setup.  Saturday and Sunday mornings we'll require a small team to setup the diamonds for that day's play (from 7 - 8:30am), and another team to get the Pavilion and tents set up (7:30 - 8:30am).  Each night we'll require 3 -4 individuals to help take down the park and reload the truck, including re-storing the supplies in the storage locker.  I know in the past, there has always been many who step up to help, it's always been appreciated and will be again this year.  The more, the merrier, and everything will get done quickly.

If you are willing to volunteer your services, please indicate your preference, and email me.
In advance,  thank you to all those who can help out. Tom Clancy, Tournament Director

Bar Duties
For our tournaments, we seek to secure bar support from some of the ladies from QBs, and other volunteers.   Please remember that most of their income for these weekends come from you, the players, so we respectfully ask for your generosity when that smiling face is handing you that cold beverage.  Tips will be received at the pouring station where you are being served.

50/50 DRAW
Each day of the tournament we hold a 50/50 draw, with funds raised to be used to buy prizes for the year-end banquet. Bring your twoonies and folding money for your chance to win.

Why Father’s Day Weekend?

There has been some feedback over the past few years asking that we move the tournament away from Father’s Day Weekend.  While in a perfect world, it would be an obvious goal to move the tournament away from Father’s Day/Sound of Music Festival – the fact is that the City’s policy on booking parks is a simple one.  The incumbent has first right of refusal every year.  This is good in that we can never lose our weekend slot to someone else, however bad in the sense that the weekends around us have had the same users for years and unless one of them decides to not utilize their weekend or switches with us down the road (they have said no every year), we are stuck where we are.  Every 4th or 5th Father’s Day falls on the weekend before our tournament – so hopefully soon we’ll have a Father’s Day Free Tournament again like we had a few years back.  Look at the bright side, it would be much, much worse having our tournament on Mother’s Day!  -  Mike Porkolab
