John Bowers
John Rivard
Anyone that's been on team CBBR over the last six years knows John Rivard and what a great example of sportsmanship he sets. Always with the positive attitude, John is a career .680 hitter, top 5 batter on any team. A true athlete! Battling through a pulled hamstring I watched John take his at-bat, get a hit and hop on one leg to first base. We had to drag him off the field to get the substitute runner in. His phone is usually ringing on the bench and it isn't his agent - he has been a team sponsor for 6 years as a real estate agent helping many of us out in Burlington. He's always there for his customers, friends and teammates. Last year in John's 26th season his team won the Andy Smith Award. In 2001 John won the Keith Dunlop Award for Sportsmanship. Just 4 more seasons and he will have his second Bob Brown Award!

John Bowers
John Bowers
John is another reason this league is so great to be a part of. He is always on the list for top sportsmanship awards every season. He has been a co-captain for 10 years and with Tom Clancy on team L3M Freight Solutions the past three. He served time on your Board of Directors for two years (2011/12). He was tournament champion in 2010 with Dave Missons Jr. and again with Tom in 2013. John was a volunteer during our Burlington Blues Special Olympics team challenge. He is a power hitter, an amazing outfielder and infielder. He is always there to help out, play an extra game, support the league, volunteer his time. He's always the first to help out with the beer truck and changing kegs, or even parking the old beer van in his driveway overnight, making him very popular with his neighbours.  In fact, three neighbours joined the league. John has a great attitude and is admired by all of us - we are truly lucky to have him in BOSL.

Isidro Telo
Isidro Telo
Isidro will receive his Bob Brown Award this season for 15 years with BOSL. That's 15 straight years we've heard what a class-act this man is. He has been a part of teams winning the Dave Little award 3 times (2002, 2003 & 2013) and the Andy Smith Award in 2003. Having played with Izzy on 2 separate occasions, the part I (Mike Porkolab) remember most in addition to the obvious nice and gentle guy that he is was when he got a single he always took a very indirect snake-like route to first base‎ which was usually followed by raising his arms in the air as if he was calling a touchdown. All while grinning ear to ear. How could you not like a guy like that?

I (Jim Hindley) have had the pleasure of being Izzy’s teammate on several occasions including the 2003 season and during my years as a captain, I always hoped for the opportunity to select him. He is a fantastic teammate, always positive and always giving his best effort.

Izzy doesn't say much. Never complains. Always wants to play - injured or not. Never heard a negative word from his mouth. Always shows up early ready to play. He's a pleasure to have on our team! (Dale Latendresse)

Mike Veerman
Mike Veerman
Mike has been with BOSL for 7 years and served on our BOD for the past two - also volunteering for committees to review rules and the league constitution. Mike is the referee in chief for the BOHC. He's currently on team VF hitting .600+ with one HR. Mike has a great attitude and is fun to play with - we are lucky to have him in the league. We wanted to draft you but VF snapped you up right in front of us! No surprize as every team wants Mike in the lineup. He is always voted MVP by his teammates. Thanks for helping us all out on the Board Mike.

Dale Latendresse
Dale Latendresse
Last year's MVO has been with BOSL for 10 years! He won the Keith Dunlop Award for sportsmanship in 2013 and the Warner Thomas Award in 2011 with co-captain Don Radke. It's his 6th season serving us all on the BOD as our Treasurer. Dale is known as a great team builder. He has a knack for going into the Draft each year with hope and anticipation of building a competitive team as well as a strong social team. Dale is all about the league motto of "Fun and Fellowship", in fact his picture (not the one above...) can be found under the definition of Fun and Fellowship. Dale is an All-Star BOSL Hall of Famer and always a volunteer. Another guy we are lucky to have in the league!

Ron VanderMeulen
Ron VanderMeulen
Ron turns 61 years old this June 30th and this will be his 20th year with BOSL. He plays bball like he was 35! Ron is always top 5 in pitching and a career 700 hitter (until recently). Most players know Ron for being a great baseball player and we are all used to seeing him in the championship rounds but anyone who has played on his team never wants to leave. He won the Keith Dunlop Award for exemplary on-field sportsmanship in 2010 and the Andy Smith Award for being the Season-End Tournament Champions in 2013. Ron has been a team captain and sponsor for McCleary Electric for 8 years. If you haven't already, make sure you get to know Ron this season.

Ron Fuller
Ron Fuller
At 80 years, Ron has everyone's respect and for good reason. His career batting avg is .570 and he plays like he's 40 and with a smile on his face. This will be his 20th season with BOSL. Ron had one hip replaced keeping him out last year but he was the first player to register for 2015 and he is already enjoying an expected comeback, hitting well as usual. He received the Bob Brown Award in 2010 and the Keith Dunlop Award for exemplary on-field sportsmanship. Great to have you back Ron!
